We're Smithsonian and NY Times Famous!!

The Smithsonian is world famous for recognizing and showcasing the most impressive items and artifacts in the known world. From natural history to air and space, the Smithsonian is quite an exclusive club. With that in mind, we are all pretty shocked that Smithsonian.com's Smart News feature has recognized this very blog with a mention in an article written by Rose Eveleth on the topic of the history of the exclamation point. Don't ask me how this happened, but we sure are stoked!

The article, which can be found here, wraps up with the following paragraph,

"But today, The Guardian and the New York Times both argue, we are overusing our exclamations. There is even a blog chronicling the incessant use of the bang, called Excessive Exclamation!! Maybe they’re right, or maybe we all just need something to argue about. Discuss!!!"

Thanks to all of our loyal readers, and a special thank you to all who have submitted examples excessive exclamation along the way! Let's keep up the good work!!

Wait, do I get any money for this?

Just prior to that article going up, our little blog also got name dropped in the NYTimes.com's Opinionator section, where writer Ben Yagoda penned this opening paragraph, in his article that can be found here,

"Anybody who has ever logged on knows that online writing begets exclamation points. A lot of exclamation points! Mocking this punctuational predilection is easy and fun. An amusing blog called “Excessive Exclamation!!” features photos of, for example, a Carl’s Jr. printed receipt with the words “PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW WE DID!!!” Another naysayer is Steve Martin, who recently wryly tweeted..."

We were mentioned in the same paragraph as Steve Martin? We have officially made it!!!

Be sure to let us know if you see any other mentions of our tiny little blog around the internet!!
